How can you #bebetter?

Mar 11, 2015

The Better Living Challenge is all about surfacing innovation. We wanted to find services, products and systems that can improve living conditions for millions of people who live in sub-standard housing in informal settlements across the country. We want to #bebetter! And we know you do too! The first Challenge, held in 2014, revealed some great ideas that could improve how houses are built, occupied and connected.

We showcased some of that innovation at the Design Indaba Expo from 26 February to 01 March 2015. We are part of the Western Cape Government’s design strategy and our stand demonstrated what happens when a strategy is successfully implemented. Members of the public were invited to stop by our stand to find out more…

And while they were there, they were invited to step into our selfie booth to share some great ideas of their own. We wanted the public to tell us how design can be used to build better houses, create better home comforts, and share better connectivity. What would you do better? How do you want the world to #bebetter?

The BLC stand was a hive of activity throughout the Indaba

In the build-up to the Design Indaba, we connected with fellow Expo exhibitors to show our appreciation for their great ideas, and to ask them what they would do to #bebetter. So watch our social media channels and our site for your own better ideas, and those of your fellow designers and creative peers. And feel free to engage with us on our social media platforms and add your own ways to #bebetter! Become one of our Better Living Challenge ambassadors, seek out those great ideas, creating a ripple of innovation and shared inspiration.

If you couldn’t make it to the stand at the expo, then head down to the Provincial Government Building at 2 Wale St, Cape Town, where our stand is now on display in the public foyer and is open for viewing during office hours.

And finally, please connect with us on Twitter and Facebook to find other ideas for the world to #bebetter.
